Leyes de Grabación en Escuelas de Michigan: Reglas para Estudiantes, Padres y Maestros (2026)

Actualizaciones

We corrected the description of the basic-phone exclusion in Michigan's school phone law (MCL 380.1303a), which allows phones with preinstalled apps.

Matched the description of exempt basic phones to the statute: phones used mainly for calls that cannot run third-party apps or access the internet.

We clarified that Michigan's 2026 classroom device law (MCL 380.1303a) covers smartphones and similar wireless devices, not basic voice-only phones.

We corrected the IEP recording guidance (federal law lets a school district limit recording of IEP meetings, with an exception when a parent needs it to understand the IEP), added Michigan's 2026 law requiring schools to bar student phone use during class, and removed claims that signs count as consent to audio recording and that schools cannot restrict recording at events.
