Recording Law is a free resource. Publishing and maintaining thousands of pages of researched legal information costs money, and we fund that work in two ways: advertising, and affiliate partnerships.
Some pages on this site link to third-party products or services, for example newspaper and genealogy archives, public-records search tools, or personal-data removal services. If you click one of those links and sign up or make a purchase, the company may pay us a commission. You never pay more because of it; in some cases an affiliate link includes a discount you would not otherwise get.
Affiliate relationships never decide what we write. Our articles are researched from primary sources (statutes, regulations, court decisions, and government agencies) first, and any linked service must be genuinely useful for the task the page describes. We do not accept payment to change what a page says about the law.
People-search and background-check tools linked on this site are not consumer reporting agencies under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). They may not be used to make decisions about employment, tenant screening, credit, insurance, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
Any content block containing an affiliate link carries a short disclosure like the one that brought you here. Ordinary citations to statutes, government sites, courts, and news sources are never affiliate links.
