Leyes de Minnesota sobre cámaras de seguridad: reglas residenciales, comerciales y de privacidad

Actualizaciones

Stated the intent and window-or-opening elements of Minnesota's hidden-camera offense and the knowledge element for the minor-victim felony.

Clarified that Minnesota's secret-recording offense covers recording into a private room through a window or other opening with intent to intrude, that a camera inside such a room is a crime when used to record intimate parts without consent, and that the minor-victim felony requires knowing the minor was present.

Relabeled the 4-year felony row in the penalty table to the provisions it covers and added the higher penalty tiers for recording under clothing.

We corrected the page to say a posted sign does not supply consent for audio recording under Minnesota's wiretap law, explained the narrow limits of the business-sign exemption for restroom cameras, narrowed the consumer data privacy law to larger businesses using cameras to identify people, and fixed penalty and damages figures (364-day gross misdemeanor, 4-year felony tier, court-discretion damages). We corrected two statements that described a flat ban on in-home cameras in guest rooms and private areas (Minnesota's law turns on intent to record intimate parts without consent) and clarified which penalty tiers apply to which offenses.

Added the Minn. Stat. Section 609.746(k) exemption: a commercial establishment that posts conspicuous surveillance-warning signage may install cameras in areas like restrooms and fitting rooms, which the page previously described as an absolute prohibition.

Se corrigieron los daños de § 626A.13 subd. 3(b) a la estructura de dos vías.
