What Intelius Shows and How It Differs From TruthFinder

3. Enter your email address and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
4. Submit, then click the verification link Intelius's parent company emails you.
5. Complete identity confirmation with your full name, date of birth, and a phone number or email address.
6. Your Background Report is suppressed on Intelius.com and, simultaneously, on TruthFinder.com, InstantCheckmate.com, and USSearch.com.

Difficulty: Moderate. No fee or account is required, and one request reaches four brands. The two-step email-then-identity verification is the main friction point.

The Zabasearch Exception: Intelius's Private-Label Site

Zabasearch is where the Intelius family gets more complicated than the other three PeopleConnect brands. Zabasearch's own homepage carries a direct disclaimer: "ZabaSearch powered by Intelius does not provide consumer reports and is not a consumer reporting agency," and its footer copyright reads "© 2026 Intelius LLC. All Rights Reserved." Both the "Exercise My Data Privacy Rights" and "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" links in Zabasearch's footer go to the same destination, Intelius's own Data Privacy Center at app.intelius.com/privacy-center/, not the Suppression Center used by the other three sites.

On that Data Privacy Center, Intelius separates data into two tracks:

• "Public Data" is the Background Report information shown to people searching your name. Intelius's own page states: "Intelius gives all users the option to Suppress Your Background Report using our Suppression Tool," which links back to the same suppression.peopleconnect.us flow described above. Suppressing your Background Report through this path is the same free, no-account tool.
• "User Data" is information Intelius collects directly from you as a visitor or customer, such as an email address, search history, or payment records. This category has its own Right to Know, Right to Opt Out, Right to Correct, and Right to Delete tools, separate from the Background Report suppression.

Practically, a reader who wants Zabasearch cleared should use the same suppression.peopleconnect.us flow reached through Intelius's own Data Privacy Center; Zabasearch simply displays Intelius's underlying Public Data, so suppressing your Background Report through Intelius's system removes it from Zabasearch's name-search results as well. Zabasearch has no separate opt-out form of its own.

Judges, Law Enforcement, and Other Protected Persons

Intelius's Data Privacy Center includes a dedicated section for judiciary and other legally protected persons: an active or retired federal, state, or municipal judge, law enforcement officer, public official, or other covered person under an applicable state law can email a request rather than using the standard tool. The request should include full name, date of birth, city and state of residence, phone number and email address, the specific law relied on, and protected status, with appeal available if Intelius cannot verify the request against an applicable law.

The FCRA Line

Intelius's onboarding notice and Zabasearch's footer both repeat the same restriction: this data is for personal curiosity, not for making decisions about employment, tenancy, credit, or insurance. TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, both under the same PeopleConnect ownership, paid a combined $5.8 million to the FTC in September 2023 over FCRA violations tied to marketing background reports for exactly those screening purposes. Treat that enforcement history as a warning that applies to the whole family of sites, not just the two named in the order.

California Residents: DROP on Top of Intelius's Own Tools

California's DROP platform, run by the California Privacy Protection Agency, has accepted consumer deletion requests since January 1, 2026, with registered brokers required to process them since August 1, 2026, backed by $200-per-request-per-day penalties. If Intelius is registered with the CPPA, a DROP request reaches it alongside every other registered broker; confirm registration on the CPPA's public registry before relying on DROP alone. If Your Listing Reappears

Intelius, like the rest of the PeopleConnect family, warns that a suppressed record can resurface if a new data feed does not exactly match your original submission, for example a name variant or an updated address. Re-search your name on Intelius and Zabasearch periodically and resubmit through the Data Privacy Center if a new listing appears.
