Finiquito Calculator: Estimate Your Final Pay in Spain (2026)

Every Spanish employment contract that ends, for any reason, generates a finiquito: the settlement of the amounts already earned but not yet paid. The employer must present the liquidation proposal when the contract ends (art. 49.2 ET), and most disputes are not about the concept but about the arithmetic. The calculator below does that arithmetic, and the rest of the page explains each line so you can check a real finiquito against it.
Information last verified on 23 July 2026. This page provides general legal information about Spanish law and does not constitute legal advice in an individual case.
Finiquito calculator (final-pay settlement)
Adds up what is owed on any contract end (art. 49.2 ET): the days worked of the final month, accrued untaken vacation (art. 38 ET), and the accrued part of the pagas extraordinarias (art. 31 ET) when they are not prorated in the payslip.
Rules verified against the Estatuto de los Trabajadores on 2026-07-23.
This tool provides an estimate for general information and is not legal advice. Check your convenio colectivo and the current text in the BOE, or consult a colegiado professional before acting.
What each line of the finiquito is
Salary for the final month. Whatever days you worked of the month the contract ended, at your daily rate. In practice payrolls divide the monthly salary by 30 for días naturales.
Untaken vacation. Statutory vacation is at least 30 días naturales per year (art. 38 ET), so 2.5 days accrue per month worked in the calendar year. Days you earned and did not take are paid at the daily rate; this is one of the most commonly shorted lines.
Pagas extraordinarias. The ET fixes two per year (art. 31). If they are prorated inside the monthly payslip, nothing extra is owed here; if they are paid in summer and at Navidad, the part accrued since the last payment is owed.
The amount of each paga and its accrual period are set by the convenio colectivo, which is why the calculator states its assumptions instead of hiding them.
Depending on the case, the finiquito also carries pending overtime, bonuses or salario en especie settlements, and it is reduced by advances already received.
A worked example
A worker earning 1.800 € gross per month (pagas not prorated) leaves on 20 September 2026 with 8 days of untaken vacation:
| Concept | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Salary, days worked | 20 days at 60,00 €/day | 1.200,00 € |
| Untaken vacation | 8 days at 60,00 €/day | 480,00 € |
| Pagas extra accrued | 82 of 184 days of the semester | 802,17 € |
| Total gross finiquito | 2.482,17 € |
The finiquito explainer covers the concept in depth, including how it differs from severance and what happens when the employer simply does not pay.
Before you sign
The recibo de finiquito is a receipt, and signing it «conforme» can be treated as settling the amounts it lists. Three protections are worth knowing.
You can sign adding «no conforme», which documents receipt without accepting the figures. You can ask for a workers' legal representative to be present at the signature, and the document must record that request (art. 49.2 ET). And a finiquito you did not sign, or signed no conforme, does not stop a later claim: salary amounts can be claimed for one year (art. 59 ET) before the Juzgado de lo Social.
If the termination was a dismissal, check the separate severance calculator: the indemnización is calculated on different rules entirely, and a finiquito that quietly mixes the two is a classic way to underpay both.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the finiquito calculated in Spain?
Add the salary for the days worked of the final month, the accrued vacation days not taken (at least 2.5 días naturales per month worked, paid at the daily rate), and the accrued part of the pagas extraordinarias if they are not prorated in the payslip, plus any pending overtime or bonuses. The result is gross, before IRPF and Social Security.
Do I get a finiquito if I resign?
Yes. The finiquito settles amounts already earned, so it is owed on any contract end, including resignation and the expiry of a temporary contract. What resignation normally excludes is the separate indemnización por despido, not the finiquito.
Should I sign the finiquito if I disagree with the amount?
You can sign adding 'no conforme' next to your signature, which documents that you received the document without accepting its figures. You may also ask for a workers' representative to be present at the signature. Signing no conforme preserves your ability to claim the difference before the Juzgado de lo Social.
Why is my finiquito lower than a month's salary?
Because it only settles what was earned and unpaid: the days actually worked of the final month, the vacation not taken, and any unprorated paga accrual. Advances already received are deducted, and IRPF and Social Security come off the gross figure, so a mid-month exit with little pending vacation produces a small finiquito without anything being wrong.
Are the pagas extra included in the finiquito?
If your pagas are prorated inside the monthly payslip, they are already being paid and nothing extra is owed. If they are paid separately in summer and at Navidad, the finiquito must include the part accrued since the last one was paid. The exact amount and accrual period depend on the convenio colectivo.
