How the Clean Slate Works
The clean slate conceals eligible convictions once a person meets all six conditions: seven years conviction-free, never a custodial (prison) sentence, never a specified serious offence (mainly serious sexual offending), never a court-ordered hospital detention on a criminal charge, never indefinitely disqualified from driving, and all fines and reparation paid. The clean slate happens by operation of law. You do not apply for it, and no one grants it. Once you are eligible, your convictions are simply not disclosed on a standard criminal record check.
