What This Checker Looks At
Unclaimed property. Every state holds dormant bank balances, uncashed paychecks, refunds, deposits and insurance proceeds until the owner claims them. The link for each state goes to the program the state itself runs, verified against the state domain and the national association's list before it appears here (13 states verified so far). Our unclaimed-property pages explain the claim process and the documents each state asks for.
Settlements. The list comes from the same records that drive the settlement tracker. A record appears only if it has a full page, and its status is derived from the court-set deadline at render time, so a closed window cannot show as open. Each entry links to our page, which names the official administrator and links to the official claim form.
Final paycheck. Most states set a deadline for paying final wages after a firing and another after a resignation, and name the agency that takes wage claims. The tool shows the deadline only where it has been checked against the statute text (42 states so far); otherwise it sends you to the state final-paycheck page.
What It Will Never Do
- It will not ask for your name, Social Security number, date of birth, account number, or any document.
- It will not file, pre-fill, or submit a claim. Filing happens on the official site, for free.
- It will not tell you that you qualify. Eligibility is decided by the administrator, the state, or the agency.
- It will not save what you select. The state and checkboxes live only in your browser tab.
- It will not show a deadline it has not verified. Missing data links to the state page instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool file a claim for me?
No. It only points you to the official place: the state unclaimed-property program, the court-appointed settlement administrator, or the state wage-claim agency. You file there, for free. We never ask for a name, Social Security number, account number or document, and nothing you select here is saved or sent.
Why does a settlement show as "unconfirmed"?
Because we have not re-verified that record against the official administrator site in the last 35 days. Rather than show a deadline we stopped checking, the tracker downgrades the record and sends you to the administrator to confirm. It is a fail-safe, not a sign the settlement is over.
How much will I get from a settlement?
Usually a pro-rata share of the fund after claims are counted, which is far below any "up to" ceiling in the notice. The tracker page for each settlement leads with the realistic figure and explains the tiers. No one can promise an amount or a payment date.
Is the unclaimed-property search really free?
Yes. Every state runs its own free search and returns the money without a fee. Companies that offer to "find" money for a percentage are using the same public database. The link here goes to the state program only after it has been verified as the official site.
Why is the security-deposit deadline missing?
Every state has one, but this tool prints a deadline only after it has been re-verified against the statute for every state. The landlord-tenant pages have not been through that pass yet, so the tool links you to the state page instead of stating a number it cannot vouch for.
