Michigan jet ski / pwc requirements

Watercraft is handled by the Michigan Secretary of State (not a separate DNR titling agency). Motorized watercraft and sailboats, plus hand-powered craft over 16 feet, must be registered (3-year transferable registration expiring March 31). If the watercraft is titled, ownership transfers by assigning the title; if untitled, the seller assigns ownership on the back of the registration. SOS Form TR-207 (Bill of Sale for a Trailer, Watercraft, or Snowmobile) is the official bill of sale used for non-titled watercraft/trailers/snowmobiles and should include year, make, Hull Identification Number (HIN), MC registration number if available, and the names/addresses of buyer and seller. The HIN is a 12-character manufacturer-assigned number (craft built before 1972 may have none). The watercraft title application form is WR-11L.
