Florida Motorcycle Requirements
Florida requires a bill of sale to title or register a motorcycle. Notarization is recommended but not required for a Florida motorcycle bill of sale. Florida publishes an official form (HSMV 82050 — Notice of Sale and/or Bill of Sale for a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, Off-Highway Vehicle or Vessel).
Federal law (49 CFR Part 580) requires the seller to disclose the vehicle's odometer reading at transfer. Under the NHTSA rule effective January 1, 2021, the disclosure period was extended from 10 to 20 years for model year 2011 and newer vehicles — meaning MY2011+ vehicles REQUIRE disclosure for 20 years (a MY2011 vehicle does not become exempt-by-age until 2031), while model year 2010 and older follow the prior 10-year exemption. In Florida the odometer disclosure is captured directly on the certificate of title (a disclosure space is printed on Florida titles), and FLHSMV states both buyer and seller must acknowledge the odometer disclosure on title transactions; a false statement may result in fines and/or imprisonment. Form HSMV 82993 (Odometer Disclosure Statement) is available as a secondary form when the title space cannot be used.
