Uses a point system
Indiana
Indiana BMV assigns 0 to 10 points per moving-violation conviction, and points stay active for 24 months. A warning notice goes out at 14 to 18 active points, and 20 or more active points within 24 months brings a suspension that grows from one month up to twelve months at 42 points.
Other consequences
If a driver commits three moving traffic offenses in any 12-month period, the BMV may require an administrative hearing.
Other consequences
Drivers convicted of two or more traffic offenses within 12 months may be required to complete a BMV-approved Driver Safety Program. Drivers under 21 with two or more traffic convictions must complete one within 90 days or their driving privileges are suspended.
How long points count
Points become inactive 24 months after the disposition date of the violation, but the violation itself stays on the driving record.
Point reduction or driver improvement
Completing and paying for a BMV-approved Driver Safety Program enters a 4-point credit on the record. The credit lasts three years and can be entered only once every three years.

What this page does not do
- It does not read your driving record. Only Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) can confirm your current total.
- It does not predict a suspension: levels count only convictions inside each window, and the agency decides.
- It does not cover commercial (CDL) disqualifications or DUI suspensions, which follow separate rules.
