Uses a point system
Illinois
Illinois assigns points to listed traffic convictions, but the point table is used only when a driver has three or more point-assigned convictions for offenses committed within a 12-month period. The total then decides whether there is no action, a suspension of 2 to 12 months, or revocation.
Other consequences
With one prior suspension or revocation in the past seven years, a stricter table applies: 15-44 points is a 4-month suspension, 45-74 is 6 months, 75-109 is 12 months, and 110 or more is revocation.
Other consequences
A suspension or revocation for repeated violations cannot be entered more than 6 months after the date of the last conviction.
Other consequences
A violation of graduated driver's license front-seat passenger restrictions carries 10 points.
Other consequences
A driver under 21 at the time of arrest can be suspended or revoked after 2 moving-violation convictions for offenses committed within any 24-month period.
How long points count
The point table is triggered by convictions for offenses committed within a 12-month period; convictions already used as a basis for action are excluded.

What this page does not do
- It does not read your driving record. Only Illinois Secretary of State, Driver Services can confirm your current total.
- It does not predict a suspension: levels count only convictions inside each window, and the agency decides.
- It does not cover commercial (CDL) disqualifications or DUI suspensions, which follow separate rules.
