Uses a point system
Idaho
Idaho assigns points to moving-violation convictions under IDAPA 39.02.71. Twelve or more points in any 12-month period brings a 30-day suspension, with longer suspensions at 18 points in 24 months and 24 points in 36 months.
Other consequences
A driver cited when under 17 gets a written warning for a first moving-violation conviction, a 30-day suspension for a second, and a 60-day suspension for a third or later one, with no restricted permit during the suspension.
Other consequences
When several violations come from one arrest or citation, only one conviction is counted for points.
How long points count
Suspensions are based on points accumulated within any 12-, 24- or 36-month period.
Point reduction or driver improvement
Completing an approved defensive driving class removes three points from the point total (the conviction stays). Points can be removed only once every three years, and a driver with no points cannot bank the reduction for later.

What this page does not do
- It does not read your driving record. Only Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) Driver Services can confirm your current total.
- It does not predict a suspension: levels count only convictions inside each window, and the agency decides.
- It does not cover commercial (CDL) disqualifications or DUI suspensions, which follow separate rules.
