Uses a point system
Connecticut
Connecticut DMV assesses 1 to 5 points per listed conviction, and points stay assessed for 24 months. A warning letter goes out at 6 points, and a conviction that raises the total above 10 points brings a 30-day suspension.
Other consequences
If the total again goes above 10 points within five years of the start of a 30-day points suspension, the license is suspended until the total drops to 10 points or below.
Other consequences
Before a 30-day points suspension takes effect, the driver may request a hearing limited to identity and whether more than ten points were accumulated within a 24-month period.
Other consequences
No points are assessed for an infraction or listed violation when the fine is paid by mail to the Centralized Infractions Bureau, unless a statutory exception applies.
Other consequences
Separately from points, drivers who commit a certain number of specific moving violations must attend a four-hour driver retraining program.

What this page does not do
- It does not read your driving record. Only Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles can confirm your current total.
- It does not predict a suspension: levels count only convictions inside each window, and the agency decides.
- It does not cover commercial (CDL) disqualifications or DUI suspensions, which follow separate rules.
